This is one of my "in-between" pages, where action is occurring, but doesn't lend itself well to detailed rendering. It's a step between pages where actual "beats" in the "story" happen. My main focus when drawing these kinds of pages is to keep the visuals clear and distinct, so there is little effort on the reader's part to determine just what the heck is going on.
Also, the exposed pubic hair in the last panel might violate some community standards. Lighten up, people, it's just a drawing!

It was not my intention to include anything that might be mistaken for tentacle porn in this comic, but the way the storyline was going, it could not be avoided at this juncture. Also, note the amusing "broke-back" anatomy of the girl in the final panel; I think we can excuse it because the young lady is being twisted by the molesting appendages. It is my curse that my comics are too pervy for the artsy-fartsy crowd, and too artsy-fartsy for the pervy crowd. I am doomed.

SPECIAL TWO-PAGE UPDATE

Pages 99 - 100

The fact that this section ends on page 100 is coincidental, but does give it sense of being nicely bundled. I’ve incorporated music into comics before (with the help of others), but this is the first time I’ve ever attempted writing my own composition. I can’t really read music (especially with my deteriorating vision), and I only just started teaching myself the piano a few years ago. The music here is a bit difficult for me to play, but give me a few weeks practice, and I could do it. I’ve always had some unformed notions of combining comics and music, but haven’t figured out a way that isn’t clunky or awkwardly contrived.

For a multitude of reasons too lengthy to list here, COCHLEA & EUSTACHIA is no longer a full color comic. I posted a general inquiry on Facebook asking readers for their opinions on a black & white C&E comic. Although there were some people who expressed a preference for color, most seemed to understand my reasoning for this shift.

Rather than going to grey, I’ve opted for a soft bluish tone, which I think matches the mood of the comic. I’m not a very good colorist, and I think this shift does draw more attention to my strength, which is nit-picky linework. It may take time, but I hope readers get used to this change.
